Who We Are
Anna Bain

McKay School of Dancing was established in 1930 by Sheila McKay, a very well known and respected figure within the Highland Dancing community. This tradition is continued by her daughter Anna Bain, a highly qualified and respected dance teacher with more than 40 years experience.

Anna is a Fellow, Examiner and former Senior Vice President of the United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing (UKA). She is also an active member of the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (SOBHD), and has served on various standards committees of this, the World Governing Body. Anna serves on the SOBHD International Judges Panel and has judged at local competitions as well as major championships in UK, Canada, USA, Argentina, Uruguay, Australia and New Zealand.

What We Do

McKay School runs regular dancing classes for students of all ages and abilities, catering for ages from 2½ years upwards, from absolute beginner to World Championship class. We also offer courses leading to professional teaching qualifications in Highland, Tap, Ballet, Jazz and Freestyle dancing. Indeed, we are proud that many of our former students are now running successful dancing schools of their own.

Where We Are

Based near Glenrothes in Fife, we run weekly classes at local venues in Fife, Scotland, and periodic workshop sessions in Fife and elsewhere. Individual private tuition is also available on request.
